The Legacy
The Spirit of Chuck Culpepper

If you went to Camp Bratton-Green, you knew Chuck Culpepper. His sessions were legendary. Over-the-top themes, skits that felt like Broadway, and a warmth that made every camper feel like they belonged to something bigger. Getting into one of Chuck’s sessions felt like getting a golden ticket.
Chuck created a world at camp that everyone wanted to be a part of. It was infectious, joyful, and deeply rooted in faith and community. He embodied the spirit of service that has defined Camp Bratton-Green for generations.
The Culpepper Cookout carries that spirit forward. More than a barbecue competition, it’s a homecoming. A chance for generations of camp alumni to gather back on Way Road, share a meal, and invest in the place that shaped them.
This is the only dedicated fundraiser for Camp Bratton-Green. Since CBG is the only diocesan-wide space for Episcopal youth in Mississippi, every ticket, every donation, and every plate of ribs helps preserve and expand what this place can be for the next generation.
“We hope that by hosting an ever-broader gathering of God’s people in this holy place, some of them might be called by the same spirit that called Chuck into the ministry of Camp.”
Rev. Chris Robinson, Event Organizer

Camp Bratton-Green not only connects many across the Diocese of Mississippi with a rich history, but also provides essential formation, encouragement, and connection for the young leaders of the Episcopal Church. The Culpepper Cookout exists to ensure that many future generations will continue to find CBG a haven of joy, care, learning, growth, and deepening faith.
