How We Obtain Consent
The Culpepper Cookout sends text messages only to individuals who have voluntarily provided their phone number and consented to receive SMS updates about the event. Consent is obtained in the following ways:
- Website sign-up form:When you enter your name and phone number on our text updates sign-up form at culpeppercookout.com, you will see a clearly labeled, unchecked checkbox with the following consent language: “I agree to receive transactional SMS messages from the Culpepper Cookout regarding event reminders, schedule updates, and day-of logistics. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.” The checkbox is not pre-selected and is not required to submit the form.
- In-person sign-up: When you provide your phone number at a Culpepper Cookout event or related gathering, we will inform you that by sharing your number, you are consenting to receive SMS updates about the Culpepper Cookout. The verbal disclosure is as follows:

What Messages You Will Receive
Text messages from the Culpepper Cookout are related to the event and may include:
- Event reminders and countdowns
- Schedule changes or weather updates
- Live updates during the event weekend
- Ticket and registration announcements
We do not send marketing messages, promotional offers, or messages unrelated to the Culpepper Cookout event.
